    • Samuel Phelan paid 5 pounds to sponsor James Hendren age 27 years to sail to Melbourne in September 1855. He sailed shortly after.
      In 1854 the Immigration Deposit Journals Series 5266 Reel 3111 state James Hendren was instructed to embark the “Mataoka” for NSW. The deposit was declined or refunded.

      In September 1855 Samuel Phelan again paid 5 pounds for 27 year old James to sail to Melbourne. James sailed shortly after on “Donald McKay” from Liverpool arriving in Melbourne 30 Dec 1857.
