Notes - In June 1849 Philip Purcell, with his brother-in-law James Barrett, set sail for California. Phillip left behind a pregnant wife and an 18 month-old son.
A note on second son’s baptism stated father was “at California, a tradesman”.
Bridget set out to California in search of her husband, after James returned back alone. Bridget did not locate Philip and he did not return to Australia. - Susan was pregnant when the couple married.
